Our Future Home
Our future home has been given the green light by the Town Hall!
Oasis Academy Leesbrook, currently situated in a fully functioning, purpose built-for-education home on Middleton Road in Oldham has been granted permission to build a brand new permanent base in the town.
Oasis Academy Leesbrook is an all-inclusive secondary Academy in Oldham, currently based in a temporary home at Middleton Road. Whilst our home at the moment is fully functioning and purpose built-for-education, we are excited about our future and the move we will make.
The first intake of students have been attending the Academy since September, which currently operated from temporary accommodation on Middleton Road.
A two and four-story building which would become Oasis Academy Leesbrook’s brand new home will be constructed on the site of the former Breeze Hill School, which was demolished in 2013.
Sarah Livesey, Principal at Oasis Academy Leesbrook, commented on the approval, saying; “We are all very excited about the approval of our new permanent home that will provide outstanding facilities for our students. Oasis Academy Leesbrook is a school where all young people receive a personalised educational experience. Students’ academic skills, habits and personalities are developed allowing them to successfully progress to work or further education and we are delighted that our students and community will have these wonderful facilities in which to learn and develop”
The new, modern purpose built Academy will provide an amazing learning environment for 1,500 students aged 11-16, almost twice as many as the former Breeze Hill School.
A specifically designed drop-off area for vehicles would use the existing Breeze Hill Road and Roxbury Avenue Junction.
There would be 116 parking spaces for staff and visitor car parking, as well as a sports pitch, a playground, and multi-use games area.
The brand new Academy would primarily serve residents from Clarksfield, Roundthorn, Glodwick, Lees, Holt, and Alt.
Anne Hargreaves, Planning Consultant for Galliford Try Partnerships (North West), the contractor selected to build the school, said; “The academy trust has a strong network of schools within Oldham and the North West.”
“They’ve specifically expressed a vision to deliver exceptional education at the heart of the community. There is a real need for a new secondary school to accommodate students in the East Oldham area to increase capacity for a growing population and offer parental choice.”
Helen Ayra, Regional Director at Oasis Community Learning, added; “This is an exciting milestone for Oasis Academy Leesbrook, the new building will provide amazing facilities for 1,500 students and provide exceptional education at the heart of the community.”
There will be information meetings for parents, carers and the community in the near future and we fully welcome you to attend these.
