Bus Information

The Bee Network

Our academies school bus will join the Bee Network on Monday 25 March 2024.

  • Your child will be able to continue using their school bus services as normal.
  • Some school bus service numbers and timetables may be slightly different to meet new school start and finish times. But most routes and timetables won’t change.
  • Your child can also continue to pay low fares and use their Igo cards on school service

Find more information on travelling to school, including the latest bus timetables, here.

Bus Fares and Passes

Fares on TfGM funded school buses are chosen by TfGM.

The cost of fares are as follows:

Child Single Ticket: £1
Child Return Ticket: £2
TfGM School Weekly Ticket: £7.60
Carnet Ticket (10 Single Trips): £10

These tickets are only valid on school buses and on school days. Tickets can be purchased on the bus, this will then be loaded on to your child's Igo card.

Igo Card

The igo card allows 11-16 year olds to travel using child tickets on buses and trams in Greater Manchester.

You can use your igo card as proof of age for travelling by tram with and bus with a child ticket.

An igo card costs £10 and lasts until 31st August after your 16th birthday.

If you have a smart ticket loaded onto your igo card, you must always remember to:

  • touch in at the card reader when getting on the bus (including school buses)
  • touch in and touch out at a yellow smart reader on tram stops, for Metrolink - if you keep your card in a wallet or purse, remove it before you touch-in and touch-out.

For paper tickets, you will be asked to show your igo when buying a ticket on a bus and when inspected during your journey on trams.
