Transition from Year 6 to Year 7

Welcome to our Leesbrook Year 7 Transition page

We are delighted to have you as part of our Leesbrook family

Transition Dates

For students joining us in September 2025, transition days will take place on:

  • Thursday 3rd July
  • Friday 4th July

There will also be a parents information evening that will take place on Thursday 3rd July.

Transition News!

Miss Arksey took 4 of our year 8 Leesbrookers to primary school, Hey-with-Zion to deliver a German taster session with year 5 classes. The students were outstanding and were brilliant role models for the year 5s. The feedback from both class teachers was extremely positive and the children had a fabulous time!

Parent, Carer and Student Information

As an Academy, our pledge is to support all year 6 students to ensure they make an excellent start at Leesbrook. In the lead up to September, there is going to be some exciting updates and activities to ensure your transition from year 6 to year 7 is successful. Please keep checking our website, and our Facebook and Twitter accounts, for updates.

As a new Leesbrooker, you will have the opportunity to build relationships with us and learn about the next stage of your education prior to starting withβ€―us in September. Our new students will be invited to a Transition Day where they will meet their Family Group Leader (form tutor) and class teachers for the first time.  Parents and carers will also be invited to a Transition Parents’ Meeting, which is a great opportunity to ask lots of questions!  If you are a parent / carer of a child with SEND needs, please know you contact our SENCO - Mrs O'Neill in the first instance - rebecca.oneill@oasisleesbrook.org.

All year 6 students will be welcomed to our amazing Academy building on Roxbury Avenue! Our state of the art building is an outstanding learning environment for our Leesbrookers; one which we are extremely proud of.

To help prepare students for their amazing journey ahead, they will be invited to the Academy for a Transition Day, as mentioned above, where they will meet their peers for the next five years. We will also invite identified students for additional transition support based on communication with primary teachers and families to ensure a smooth transition to secondary school.

We hope that this helps settle some of the nerves – they are completely natural! We know that it can be daunting to be the newest and youngest members of the Leesbrook family! After our transition day, our excited new Leesbrookers always go home safe in the knowledge that they have walked the corridors of the Academy, met their teachersβ€―and most importantly, made friends.β€―

It is our priority to help you with this change, therefore we welcome any feedback or questions from parents and carers.

If you have a query relating to your child’s transition to Leesbrook, we would love to hear from you. Please email us lee.transition@oasisleesbrook.org and we will be happy to help.
