A ‘golden’ moment in Leesbrook’s History!

A ‘golden’ moment in Leesbrook’s History!

This was due to be an important moment in the history of our school and we were all excited to be there. In attendance were Mrs Livesey, Mr S Jones and Principal Students, Khizr Ali & Ayo Adekeye; Deputy Student Principal, Tyreece White and year 7 student, Charlotte Brookes. We were able to add the final touches to the steel frame and get a chance to see the inside of the new school.

Upon arrival at the site, we met key individuals from Galliford Try such as the designer of the building, the site manager and the regional director for Oasis North, Mrs Arya. During the meeting we were told that good progress is being made on the building and that all the steel structure to the building had been completed. It was exciting to see the huge progress that had been made and to be able to see where our classrooms and the main entrance to the building would be.

After meeting key individuals we were extremely honoured to go and put the ‘golden bolt’ in the building, the final bolt that commemorated the end of that phase of the construction. It was exciting to be a part of such an important moment in our school’s history and, despite the cold, we were all happy to be there and witness it in person.

At the end of the day we were all given KitKats and chocolate chip biscuits to help us calm down from all the excitement (and recover from the cold). It was a fascinating experience and one we will all remember for a long time.
